For many years I wanted to see this mountain high up in the valley. For most of the year it is obscured by cloud, but in late October 2017 I rode up beyond Kyanjin on horseback to see the upper valley. The name Langshisira means ‘Dead Yak’ and it is here that a Yak herder had found his dead Yak after following it over the mountains over from Tibet. The Yak had turned to stone and can still be seen at Langshisa Karka to this day. The herder also discovered the valley and in time it was settled by people from the Tibetan side of the mountains.
